The first of the steel trusses for stage two of the Brisbane Markets Limited trading floor roofing project were erected yesterday (scroll down for images) with the same precision and skill as the stage one trusses erected in December last year.
Stage Two will deliver an additional 2,500m2 to the Stage one roof works taking the total area of this project to over 10,500m2.
Senior Project Manager Barry Murphy explained how the level of accuracy being achieved by the tradesmen involved continues to amaze him.
“The first truss of this stage was required to fit on 16 bolts at one end and 8 bolts at the other, located 26m away.”
“The second truss which joined the completed stage one structure with the first truss of stage two is affixed with a total of 48 bolts and connected through 6 plate flanges with no tolerance for error.” Barry Said.
“There are 5 more main trusses, in excess of 30 secondary trusses, and truck loads of stick steel to go, but we are off to a good start with our new fabricator, Caneland Engineering .”
“Well done to all concerned, keep up the good work.”
